Why This Route?
This is the ultimate “Grand Tour” of the Czech Republic. Designed for riders who appreciate history as much as a good curve, the Imperial Heritage loop takes you through the most aristocratic regions of Bohemia.
You will ride from the world-famous spa towns of the west to the deep virgin forests of the Šumava National Park. You will taste the original Pilsner exactly where it was born and sleep in medieval towns untouched by time. It is a journey through 500 years of architecture, connected by winding country roads.
Day-by-Day Itinerary
Day 1: Prague — Karlovy Vary
The Royal Road
Leave the capital behind and dive into the royal forests of Křivoklát. The route winds through the hop-growing regions of Žatec (where the soul of Czech beer is grown) before entering the rolling hills of the west.
Known as the “Key to the Bohemian Kingdom,” this 12th-century castle sits on a massive granite rock surrounded by the Ohře river. The best part? You can park your motorcycle right at the foot of the castle bridge for an epic photo.
The Finish: Arrive in Karlovy Vary, the town of colonnades and hot springs. Park the bike and take a walk along the promenade where Goethe and Beethoven once strolled.
Overnight: Karlovy Vary (Experience 19th-century aristocracy).
Stats: ~260 km.
Day 2: Karlovy Vary — Plzeň
Deep Forests & The Golden Lager
Today’s ride takes you “off the grid” into the Český les (Bohemian Forest). This former Iron Curtain border zone is now a paradise for bikers—empty roads, dense greenery, and pure silence. Stop at the Bečov nad Teplou castle to see the St. Maurus Reliquary, a treasure second only to the Crown Jewels.
We finish the day in Plzeň, the beer capital of the world. A visit to the brewery is mandatory, followed by dinner at the “Na Spilce” restaurant right inside the factory cellar.
Overnight: Plzeň.
Stats: ~230 km.
Day 3: Plzeň — Český Krumlov
The Green Roof of Europe
Prepare for the best air you will ever breathe. We cross the Šumava National Park. The roads here are smooth and flowing, cutting through endless spruce forests near the German border. It’s a meditative, rhythmic ride.
Arriving here feels like time travel. The entire town is a UNESCO World Heritage site, with a massive castle towering over a meandering river. The streets are narrow and cobblestoned.
Important: The historic center is car-free. Our hotel recommendations include secure parking just outside the pedestrian zone.
Overnight: Český Krumlov.
Stats: ~270 km.
Day 4: Český Krumlov — Kutná Hora
South Bohemian Gothic
We head east through the land of lakes and castles. First stop is Hluboká nad Vltavou, a stunning white Windsor-style castle. Then, we cruise to Telč, known for its incredible Renaissance town square with colorful gable houses.
It is often called the most beautiful square in the Czech Republic. A perfect spot for a mid-ride coffee and a panoramic photo.
Overnight: Kutná Hora.
Stats: ~280 km.
Day 5: Kutná Hora — Prague
Treasures & Bones
Start the morning with something spooky: the Sedlec Ossuary (Bone Church) in Kutná Hora, decorated with the bones of 40,000 people. Then, the ride back to Prague turns into a “Castle Run”.
You will pass the majestic Český Šternberk, the hunting lodge of Konopiště, and finally, the fortress of Karlštejn.
The Finish: Return the bikes in Prague with a camera full of memories.
Stats: ~200 km.
