Why This Route?

This is the bucket list tour for any serious rider. Starting from our base in Vienna, you will conquer the highest paved roads in Austria. The focus is purely on the ride: perfect asphalt, hundreds of switchbacks, and majestic alpine views.

You will ride the world-famous Grossglockner High Alpine Road, swing through the 52 curves of the Nockalmstraße park, and test your lean angles on the Soboth pass. It is a symphony of boxer engines and mountain air.

Day-by-Day Itinerary

Day 1: Vienna — Schladming

The Mountain Escape

We leave the capital and head straight for the biker cult spot: Kalte Kuchl. On weekends, hundreds of riders gather here for the famous “Topfenstrudel”.

From there, the road gets wilder. We follow the Salza river through Wildalpen. The road is narrow, twisty, and hugs the river bank—a perfect warm-up for the days ahead.

The Finish: Schladming, a world-class ski resort nestled between the Dachstein massif and the Schladminger Tauern.

Overnight: Schladming.
Stats: ~290 km.

Day 2: Schladming — Lienz

The King of Roads

Today is the main event. We ride towards the Hohe Tauern National Park to face the giant.

Highlight: Grossglockner High Alpine Road

This is the Mecca of European motorcycling. We climb to 2,504m at the Edelweissspitze. The views of the Pasterze glacier and Austria’s highest peak (3,798m) are unforgettable. The tarmac is racetrack quality.

The Finish: We descend into Lienz, known as the “Sun City” of Austria with a distinct Italian flair.

Overnight: Lienz.
Stats: ~180 km.

Day 3: Lienz — Klagenfurt

The Nockalm Carousel

We head east towards the gentle, rounded peaks of the Nockberge Biosphere Park.

Highlight: Nockalmstraße

52 hairpins await you. Unlike the sharp jagged rocks of the Grossglockner, this road flows like a rollercoaster through green pine forests. It is widely considered the most enjoyable riding road for a GS due to its lack of “stop-and-go” corners.

The Finish: Klagenfurt, located on the turquoise waters of Lake Wörthersee.

Overnight: Klagenfurt.
Stats: ~240 km.

Day 4: Klagenfurt — Graz

Styrian Classics

We leave Carinthia and enter Styria via the legendary B69 road over the Soboth pass.

Highlight: The Soboth (B69)

This is the local sportbike riders’ favorite. It’s fast, wide, and cuts through dense forest. The grip is incredible, and the flow is addictive.

The Finish: Graz. Austria’s second-largest city is a UNESCO World Heritage site. Park the bike and walk up to the Clock Tower (Uhrturm) for a sunset view.

Overnight: Graz.
Stats: ~200 km.

Day 5: Graz — Vienna

The Green Heart

The final leg brings us over the Semmering pass and into the dramatic Höllental (Hell’s Valley). The road runs through a deep gorge between sheer rock walls alongside the Schwarza river.

We pass through the spa town of Baden before arriving back at the Tripola base in Vienna.

Stats: ~210 km.
